Advertising That Works

Advertising works. If I did not think so, you would not be reading this page.

I had a widow call me one time about selling her house. The house had been for sale for over a year and her agent told her he could not sell it.

She had the house built to retire to and it accommodated her disabled husband. They turned the third bedroom into a hot tub room and went overboard with the cherry floors and custom kitchen, to name a few of the extras. There was too much house and too many extras for only a 2 bedroom house.

All her money was tied up in this house and the market did not have a place for a custom two bedroom house. I put a color ad in the local homes magazine and let the ad just keep on running.

I only ever received one call on that listing. It was from an agent who lived in the neighborhood but had never seen the house. She and her husband were shopping for a house and just overlooked this one because she assumed it was the typical two bedroom house. The agent was used to looking in the MLS and not doing any further research.

Her husband was not in real estate and he shopped through the local real estate magazines. He saw the ad and saw that this was not the typical two bedroom house and they bought it for full price.

Anyone who believes that advertising doesn't work just isn't doing it right.

All of my listings will be in one of the local real estate magazines for the entire duration of the contract. I do not rotate my ads like most of the companies do. If it is for sale it is advertised.
