14th Annual Chili Cook-Off Feb 24
Published February 13, 2008 by Sabrina GordonThe 14th Annual Chili Cook-Off will be on Sunday,Feb.24 at Stripers Bar and Grill from 1 to 5 p.m.. The Cook-off competition will be open to restaurants as well as individuals. Admission is $10 per person; children 7-12 are $5 and children 6 and under are free.
A new category has been added this year called the “home kitchen” for mom and pop restaurants and non-restaurant entries. The entry fee is $25 and the deadline for submission is Feb.12. Local businesses are going to donate products and services to the charity cook-off.
Gift certificates will be donated by Chilli Peppers, Stripers Bar and Grille, Thacker and Pratt, Lori Douglas Photography, Relaxation Station of Grandy, CD’s from Beach 104 radio, and Barr-ee Station. DJ services and sound will be donated by Soundwavz Entertainment. Proceeds will benefit Manteo High School and First Flight High School scholarship programs.
Competitors will receive a Chilli Peppers Cook-Off t-shirt. Prizes will be given out in four categories: meat, other meat, vegetarian, and home kitchen. Entry forms are available at Chili Peppers in Kill Devil Hills and Stripers Bar and Grille in Manteo and by calling 441-8081.
