Art Workshop held by Dare County Art Council
Published April 12, 2008 by Sabrina GordonAn art workshop called Loosen Up By Simplifying, will be taught by instructor Mike Rooney. The workshop will be on May 10th, from 9a.m. til 5p.m. The fee is $85 and should be paid on the day of the class. It is for intermediate to advanced artists who are working in all medias. Students should bring their own supplies needed for their media.
The class will be held at the Dare County Arts Council Gallery Studio at 104 Sir Walter Raliegh St. in Manteo. This workshop will take place outside if the weather permits, if not then the students need to bring photos to work from. The class will begin with a demo with instruction then exercises will begin. The students will paint a landscape that day followed by a casual critique in the last hour.
Mike Rooney who is an artist and instructor from Topsail Beach will teach the students to paint with a loose, quick style and learn these basics:
-Capturing light effects-
-Working quickly-
-Simplifying objects-
-Color composition theory-
-Massing in from blobs to objects-
-Color palette choices-
-Approaching galleries.
