Charter high-speed internet stinks

Published December 12, 2007 by admin

The so-called high-speed digital cable internet service provided by Charter Communications stinks and we want to tell you about it.

For months we’ve experienced dropped connections, service floating in and out all times of day, waiting until 9:51 in the morning to get online, paying for 5 megs and getting 3 megs…we’ve put up with for the Very. Last. Day.

From asking friends and acquaintances lately it appears that in the middle beaches of Dare County Embarq DSL is the new way to go for high-speed internet service.

Nobody we’ve asked said they’re happy with Charter Communications internet service OR their customer service/tech support, which amounts to a recorded message telling us they already know about our problem. They apparently don’t know about it since it happens all the time and quite randomly and they’ve failed to fix it.

Also, telling us they DO know about it kinda makes us even angrier…are they giving crummy service and poor/no connections on PURPOSE?

A little honesty from Charter explaining the problems up front–that they have old, worn out equipment in Dare County and they’re sorry, but they need to ask our patience during X hours on X days while they try to fix stuff, would make us all a bit more understanding.

Forget it, though. We just got Embarq DSL which everyone has said is better and faster than it used to be when it was Sprint, and we have decided to take that chance.

From all accounts, Embarq DSL has live 24/7 US-based tech support/customer service.

We’ll let you know how it goes.
