Find ancient treasures in our Fossil Pit. Take a leisurely stroll on our waterside boardwalk and view our award winning shoreline restoration project, the maritime forest and marsh conservation area. Here life takes on a whole new perspective as you observe the hidden pristine beauty and quiet surroundings. There are several benches on the way for rest and reflection and also picnic tables. The NC Maritime Museum on Roanoke Island will offer a variety of maritime skills, boatbuilding, sailing programs and workshops throughout the year in the Creef Boathouse. Creative Diversions will explore traditional craft and its function and growth as well as influences around the pocosin region of eastern North Carolina and across the State. “It’s A Wonderful Life”

Film Theatre
Produced by the North Carolina Stage Company in Asheville, the production will transform the RIFP Film Theatre into WBFR Studio A, in Manhattan, NY. The audience will become the live studio audience for the coast-to-coast broadcast of the classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.” 5 actors will resurrect the vintage radio-drama and provide all live sound effects needed to bring the story to life. Don’t let the holiday spirit fade! On Saturday, December 29, come join in the fun as Roanoke Island Festival Park celebrates the sixth day of Christmas. Visitors to the Park can get a taste of 16th century holiday traditions from 12:00 to 5:00 as they make decorations, learn special dances, sing songs, discover food and drink of the season, and indulge in merriment with members of the Guild of St. Andrew. Many events will be held inside and the celebration will go on, rain or shine.
In the Settlement Site visitors can join with the interpreters as they “recreate” their celebration in the American wilderness, with simple decorations and a roast over the open fire.
