Diamonds and Pearls Gala October 27th
Published October 24, 2007 by adminThe 80th Anniversary of the First Flight Society is to be celebrated with a “Diamonds and Pearls” fundraising gala at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk on Saturday evening, October 27th.
Formed in 1927, the First Flight Society is a nonprofit group of volunteers who work closely with the National Park Service aiding in annual celebration of Orville and Wilbur Wright’s historical achievement in flight on December 17, 1903. They promote the Outer Banks’ unique relationship with that monumental page from aviation history.
2006 marked their first fundraising benefit and the Society plans to continue the new tradition with this year’s event.
The evening will kick off a 6:00 with dinner, music, dancing, live and silent auctions and special prizes. Topping the list of fabulous prizes will be a round trip France excursion with accomodations for two to visit Coulaines, a sister city to Kitty Hawk in LeMans, where Wilbur Wright made the first European flight.
Diamonds and Dunes Jewelers are designing a fabulous diamond and pearl necklace to be auctioned. Other prizes will include local artwork, a glider flight and a in-home chef dinner for two.
Just Desserts wil lend their usual flair to a cake designed specially for the event and the First Flight High School Jazz Hawks will perform, with dancing music provided by “Society’s Best.”
Seating will be limited, so purchase your $100-per-person tickets today by calling (252) 441-1903.
