Entries now being accepted for photo contest

The Great Outdoors Wildlife Photography Contest will be hosted by The Wings Over Water Wildlife Festival. The contest will be hung in the SeaTree Gallery, located at Whalehead Junction in Nags Head, from April 4 through the 12.

Photos must have been taken from Jan.1, 2007 to Feb. 15, 2008 at locations on the Outer Banks or any of the wildlife refuges in the region. Appropriate subjects are wildlife-wolves, bears, alligators; birds such as song, shore, and waterfowl. Also photos of enjoying the great outdoors such as paddling, water sports, and landscapes. Please no pictures of sunsets or sunrises.

There is a maximum of three entries per photographer and there is a $10 entry fee for the first photo and $5 for each additional entry. The prints should be 8.5×11 inches on quality photo paper and be matted but not framed.

The back of the print should have the photographer’s name phone number, and address, plus details about the photo such as identification of species if known and location of the photograph.

Cash prizes will be awarded. First place $100, second place $75 and third place $50. All photographs will become property of the Wings Over Water Festival. They may be used for exhibits, promotional brochures, calendars, and other educational publications. Photographers will be credited in such uses as possible.

Make checks payable to the Coastal Refuge Wildlife Society. You can drop off entries at the office located at 2910 S. Croatan Highway, Nags Head.
