Injured vets losing enlistment bonuses

Published December 21, 2007 by admin

“As Americans, we should never break our promises to our veterans, especially in a time of war,” said Rep. Walter Jones in a recent newspaper article he wrote.

Some of our American military men and and women who have been wounded in Iraq are facing the loss of the enlistment bonuses they were promised when they agreed to go over and fight for our country.

Hoping to advance H.R. 3793, the Veterans Guaranteed Bonus Act of 2007, Rep. Jones is calling for all constituents to back him in this effort to aid our war heroes returning with injuries.

Apparently a Department of Defense oversight has led to enlistment bonuses being taken back from wounded Iraq war soldiers who, because of their injuries, are no longer able to complete their tours of duty.

“(I)t is unconscionable to promise a significant amount of money to a young American and then demand its return,” stated Rep. Jones.

Our veterans deserve our full support!
