Sandy Run Park has just opened in Kitty Hawk. The 16 acre park is on Woods Road and has basket ball half court, a shuffle board courts, access to Sandy Run Ditch to launch canoes and kayaks, picnic areas with pavilion and grills and a quarter mile long boardwalk through the wetlands for bird and wildlife watching.
Sandy Run Ditch meanders through Kitty Hawk Woods which is a wildlife reserve. The park was funded in part by a grant from the North Carolina Parks and Recreation Trust Fund in part with the town of Kitty Hawk.
