May Programs for Goose Creek Park
Published May 22, 2008 by Sabrina GordonThe calendar events for the month of May for Goose Creek Park in Beaufort County which is just outside of Washington are as follows: On Saturday, May 17 at 10a.m. there is a children’s program for ages 6-12 called The Four B’s of Pollination Young Naturalists. It explains why there is so much yellow stuff in the air this time of year. It will also explain what animals help pollinate the different plants and trees and also what all the yellow stuff has to do with springtime. The program will meet in the Environmental Education and Visitor Center.
On Sunday, May 18th at 3p.m. The program is called The Pollinators. All ages are welcome. Questions will be answered like, Do bees ever sneeze? Do bats have watery eyes? All signs that pollination is happening. Mysteries of pollination and how animals help to bring on the next generation of plants will be uncovered. The program will take place in the Environmental Education and Visitor Center.
On Saturday, May 24th at 10a.m. Digging Dinosaurs. Kids ages 3 to 5. There will be an activity to learn about the dinosaurs that lived in North Carolina. Along with fun crafts and story-time. Meet in the Environmental Education and Visitor Center.
On Sunday, May 25th at 3p.m. Let’s Go Fly a Kite! All ages welcome. The program is free and so are all the materials. You will make your own kite and then try and fly it weather permitting. Please call 252-923-2191 to pre-register because it is an hour long program. The program will meet in the classroom of the Environmental Education and Visitor Center.
On Saturday, May 31 10a.m. Canoe the Goose. For ages 6 and up. You will explore the waters of Goose Creek Park and view the cypress trees and ospreys that soar overhead. Canoes will be provided. Due to the limited spaces please call 252-923-2191 to pre-register for this hour-and-a- half guided trip.
