Outer Banks Fishing School

Published March 10, 2008 by Capt. Mark Peters

The Outer Banks is a world class fishing area. We are blessed with abundant fish in the ocean surf, the sounds, the near-shore shipwrecks and structures as well as the gulfstream. Have you ever tried to learn how to catch these fish? Good luck…its been a tightly held secret. While there are numerous charter operators and tackle shops, resources for learning how to fish at novice, intermediate and advanced levels are far and few between.

As a result of having spent decades with trial and error, misinformation, unnecessary consumption of hundreds of gallon of fuel and entirely too much spent on the wrong bait and tackle, a group of us have created the Outer Banks Fishing School. This is an enterprise which, beginning in 2007 with OBXROCKFISHING, began offering classes, clinics and day long seminars specifically geared toward catching fish in the Outer banks of North Carolina. We have assembled some of the most expert local Captains and Guides who have agreed to show willing participants how the pros do it for a living. Courses such as OBXTROUTFISHING, OBXDRUMFISHING 4X4 WEEKEND, SURF FISHING “QUICK START”, PIER FISHING “QUICK START”, COBIA/AMBERJACK/SHARKS-FISHING THE OBX INSHORE and OBXROCKFISHING are all on deck for 2008.

For Example, On March 29,2008 Captain Bryan DeHart, a Roanoke Island native and well known TV Fishing guide and Captain Dave Rohde, a fly fishing guide with worldwide experience join forces with author Ric Burnley (”The Complete Kayak Fisherman”) , Regional Editor for Saltwater Sportsman magazine to present “Fishing the OBX Sounds“. This day long seminar at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kitty Hawk will cover catching Flounder, Striped Bass, Speckled Trout and Red Drum in the Albemarle, Roanoke, Croatan and Pamlico sounds. The cost is $125 for the day and includes a year long subscription to the NC sportsman Magazine. Take a look at www.obxfishingschool.com to learn about the numerous other great programs we have scheduled for 2008. Call Capt. Mark Peters at 252-255-2004 or email him at info@obxfishingschool.com. You can register for this or any of the other seminars on the website. We hope to see you!
