Set your clock back and Change Smoke Alarm batteries
Published November 1, 2007 by adminWhen you wake up Sunday it will be a hour earlier unless you remember to set your clocks back on Saturday. It is that time of year again when time is rearranged for some antiquated reason and our body clocks are thrown into a state of confusion. When you leave for work on Monday it will be darker and everything will seem out of place.
The evenings will be an hour longer so, for some, it will be a positive experience. If you work late the drive home will still have some daylight and the kids get to play longer after school. Some people say this is done for the farmers, but the farmers I know already work from sunrise to sunset, or longer, regardless of what a clock might say. And the factories hardly have windows in them anymore, if they are even in this country, so I doubt it affects the work schedule there. Saving energy is thrown around as the reason for the change, but I don’t understand how it uses less electricity to burn lights in the morning as opposed to the afternoon. If you know the reason please leave a comment.
This is a good time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms. Don’t wait for that aggravating beep to start. This usually results in the removal of the batteries and then you run the risk of forgetting to replace the batteries which can end up in disaster. Smoke alarms save lives.
So if you accomplish nothing else this weekend, please change the batteries in you smoke alarms. Please!
