Sweetheart 8-K footrace Feb 9
Published February 7, 2008 by Sabrina GordonThe Sweetheart 8-K footrace and Children’s Fun Run will be held on Saturday, Febtuary 9th at 9a.m.. Registration will begin at 8a.m. and both races will be hosted by The Outer Banks Running Club. The registration fee for Outer Banks Running Club members will be $5 while non-members pay $10,the fun run is free for all children.
The 8-K run will wind through historic downtown Manteo and will begin and end at Roanoke Island Festival Park. The Children’s Fun Run will begin right after the race and stay within the Festival Park. The club honors pre-registration and forms are available for downloading at outerbanksrunningclub.org.. A Valentine’s Day race t-shirt is included in the fee for the first 60 applicants and a snack is provided for all participants after the race.
Race director Yevette Kirkpatrick says the club will award prizes to the top male\female couple sweetheart team with the lowest combined score. The overall first, second and third place runners and ribbons will be provided for the top five runners of each five-year age group.
