Take unincorporated Dare Co. Land-Use Plan Survey
Published October 14, 2007 by adminIf you are a resident of one of Dare County’s unincorporated areas (outside any limits), a survey is yours for the taking from now until the end of October regarding your opinions about various hotbed issues facing your “neck of the woods.”
Beach driving on Cape Hatteras National Seashore, limiting building permits, offshore oil exploration, windmills–these are just a few of the issues being weighed in the current update of Dare County’s land-use plan, which will dictate about five-years’ worth of development and land guidelines.
The next land-use plan is scheduled to be adopted at the end of 2008, with the drafting to probably begin in January.
Last week Manteo, Kill Devil Hills and Hatteras Island hosted public workshops and have been distributing many thousands of surveys to citizens since mid-September, the input of which will aid the county planning board when they begin drafting the plan.
There will be another series of public workshops after the first drafting to keep the entire project in touch with the public and so the citizenry of unincorporated Dare County has a voice.
You can still take the survey online at www.darenc.com.
