Every Tuesday night year-round the First Flight Lions Club has bingo nights at their building at 2706 N. Croatan Highway, in Kill Devil Hills. Games begin at 7 p.m.,but the doors open at 6p.m. Players are able to win cash prizes and there are almost two dozens games played each Tuesday night. It is a great social activity and evening of entertainment for residents and visitors on the Outer Banks.
Profits from the bingo games supports charitable programs for the club, which include local scholarships, educational and charitable programs for the North Carolina Lions Foundation and Boys and Girls Home of North Carolina. They also support eye exams and eyeglasses for people needing financial help.
With other area Lions Clubs, the local club is a major sponsor of the annual Lions Visually Impaired Persons Fishing Tournament. This fishing tournament brings in over 500 blind and visually impaired people from all over North Carolina to the Outer Banks for the tournament, recreational activities, and educational programs. The First Flight Lions Club began in 1976 and meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays each month at 6:30p.m. at the First Flight Lions Club Building.
