Volunteers needed for Currituck Big Sweep Oct. 6th
Published October 3, 2007 by adminWant to help make Currituck a cleaner place this coming Saturday, October 6th?
Call Mike Doxey, coordinator of Currituck’s Big Sweep effort at the County Soil and Water office, (252) 232-3360, to find out how you can help.
Part of the global International Coastal Cleanup, the annual Big Sweep is an event that all 100 North Carolina counties participate in. Last year alone, volunteers state-wide cleared our waterways, coastal areas, beaches and roadsides of over 500,000 lbs of trash!
Eventually litter affects our water supplies, damages fragile wildlife habitats and generally hurts our tourism income all over the Outer Banks. Pitching in and helping out can be your way of giving back to your community. Bring friends, too!
Call Mike Doxey to get instructions and discuss your target area. Currituck County also reminds all volunteers to call and report back once finished to tell them how much litter you collected.
