At the very northern most reach in Currituck County, just before the road ends, is the town of Corolla. A quaint fishing village surrounded by luxury rental homes and home to the Currituck Lighthouse which is sometimes called the Corolla Light. Corolla has a year round population of about 500 residents, not including the wild horses that roam the area.
Most of the stores and restaurants are closed during the winter months and most of the houses are vacant waiting for the return of the summer crowd. These large homes are usually rented by large families or groups of friends. The sharing of the cost makes it a very affordable vacation.
